Biography

Baillie Arseneau, originally from Homeville Cape Breton, is a Halifax-based artist. Baillie has been painting since the early age of eight and was taught by Cape Breton Savant Marie Moore for ten years. Baillie has won multiple awards for her artwork, one such noteworthy accomplishment would be creating the design for a coin to commemorate the anniversary of the Gulf War.

Baillie's passion is often expressed through paint nights, which she has been hosting since 2019 under the name Baillie's Artistic Aspirations. Baillie wanted to support her community, and during the lockdowns of the pandemic, she hosted free online paint nights to alleviate stress and boost community morale. In that time as her business grew, she rebranded to A Happy Medium. She hosts in-person events with joy, and wonder of showing others how to create. This keeps her passion alive, along with all the beauty and colour of the world.

After moving to Halifax, her business growing more, and creating new connections, the need to rebrand came again, along with new goals for her business.

Out of creating Canvas Connections, Baillie hopes that she can give back to the community by making deep connections, sharing creativity, and creating the legacy of being mentored as she once was.
